Artist Statement

As a video editor, my work encompasses a range of visual and auditory elements that bring my art to life. I see my role as a storyteller, shaping raw footage into captivating narratives that are engaging and inspiring for audiences. I believe video editing is a powerful medium that a lot of thought into building a story. Through my craft, I aim to capture the core of the human experience and emotions and presenting them in a way that resonates with the audience.

The art of video editing is a balance between technical expertise and creative intuition, which is a challenging balance that becomes established through years of work. Every project presents a unique approach to storytelling, presenting chances of exploration with different genres. The theme of my work relies and reflects on evoking human emotions. Those emotions depend on creating the narrative within the footage; carefully selecting shots that present feeling and rawness of the story, a feeling that will leave an effect on the audience. However, every form of art comes with its challenges. This craft demands attention to detail, countless revisions, and ensuring continuity in the story. It also demands the consistent mutual understanding and agreement with other team members of the project, making sure everyone is satisfied with the artistic direction the story is taking.

My goal as a video editor is to make the audience understand a subject/character’s point of view in a story, sympathize with their situation, and feel more connected to them. I want to leave an imprint with my work through the focus of emotions and flow of the story. I believe a big contribution to my artistic approach is my work being music-driven. As an editor, I was inspired and influenced by watching music videos from artists all around the world. I’ve always felt more connected to a story when music played a factor, which is why music videos always left an effect on me. Also, I’ve found inspiration in other genres, such as horror and comedy, that helped me as editor understand the use of facial expressions, as well as social cues that are impactful to the scene. With this, I aspire to leave an impression on my audience the same way my influences have. I hope viewers can perceive the world I create through my lens.
